Today marks the official return of Dance Spirit as the Los Angeles duo release “Tranquilized & Hypnotized,” their first new music in six years and the opening chapter of their forthcoming album, Lunatic.
Available now via the duo’s newly established label Koukan, the release signals a fresh era for Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius following an extended creative hiatus. Originally completed before the pandemic, Lunatic remained unreleased for years before the pair reunited to independently share the project with the world.
Built around emotive vocals, organic percussion and rich modular textures, “Tranquilized & Hypnotized” showcases the atmospheric sound that has become synonymous with Dance Spirit. The release includes three unique versions: the Original Cut, the immersive Tranquilized Mix and the dancefloor-focused Hypnotized Mix.
“I’m constantly searching for patterns I can’t quite explain, and that’s exactly what ‘Tranquilized & Hypnotized’ feels like to me,” says Reagan Denius. “It’s a song that invites you to drift somewhere between dreams and reality.”
The single serves as the first taste of Lunatic, an eleven-track multimedia album arriving on September 25, with each track accompanied by original visual artwork. Entirely self-produced and independently released, the project reflects the duo’s commitment to artistic freedom and immersive storytelling.
“Tranquilized & Hypnotized” is available now on all major streaming platforms, with the full album Lunatic arriving September 25.
