FLOUR

Flour returns to EXHALE with ‘Fallen Angel’, a four-track EP that pushes deeper into his evolving sonic identity. Rooted between trance and techno, the project unfolds as a cohesive body of work shaped by tension, movement and atmosphere.

Flour has steadily built momentum since his debut in 2022, earning support from names including Amelie Lens, Charlotte de Witte and Luca Agnelli, alongside releases on Rave Alert, Etruria Beat and Reckless. With three previous appearances on EXHALE’s compilation series, ‘Fallen Angel’ follows his debut ‘Visitors’ EP released back in 2025.

From the opening moments, the EP establishes a clear sense of intent. Driving drum grooves and sharp acid lines cut through dense, celestial textures, setting a tone that feels both urgent and expansive. There’s a constant forward motion throughout, but it’s never one-dimensional. Each track builds on the last, shifting through different shades of intensity while maintaining a unified direction.

As the record unfolds, psytrance elements become more pronounced. The low-end grows heavier, the rhythms tighten, and the energy intensifies into full peak-time territory. There’s a raw physicality to these sections, balanced by detailed melodic layers and atmospheric design that give the tracks space to breathe. Flour leans into contrast, moving between pressure and release, control and chaos, without ever losing grip of the dancefloor.

That sense of scale continues to develop across the EP. Cinematic breakdowns open into towering drops, with arrangements that feel deliberate and immersive rather than purely functional. It plays out less like a collection of tracks and more like a sequence of moments, each one pushing the narrative forward while adding weight to what came before.

By the final stretch, everything locks into place. The energy peaks, but there’s also a sense of resolution. Subtle rhythmic shifts and breakbeat textures cut through the intensity, adding another layer to an already detailed sound palette. It’s a closing chapter that feels earned, bringing the EP to a powerful and fully realised finish.
