Milan-based Italian Techno producer HydraTek returns with Modern Human, a three-track EP that fuses raw emotion with razor-sharp production, out Friday, March 28, on Don’t Play This At Home Records.
Following the legacy of his late 2024 EP Ragnarök, released on Purple Desert Records, HydraTek deepens his sonic and conceptual exploration with Modern Human, weaving storytelling into a bold techno framework. Across tracks like “Metallic Tears”, “Semantic Noise,” and “Self Paradox,” the EP reflects on the ontological tensions of existence in an increasingly digitized, disembodied world.
“Metallic Tears” sets the tone of the EP with the coldness of mechanical rhythms and vocal elements blended with a melancholic melodic sequence.
“Semantic Noise” is the conceptual heart of the overall EP. It expresses the complexity of communication in the modern age through fragmented and manipulated vocal snippets layered on top of each other.
“Self Paradox” closes the EP with obsessive riffs and a carefully crafted contrast of dark and light vibes.
Each track offers a unique narrative arc, balancing precision-engineered rhythms with emotional vulnerability. HydraTek’s signature sound—a blend of immersive textures, addictive drive, and cerebral sound design—remains unmistakable, but Modern Human introduces a heightened sense of introspection and sonic experimentation.
HydraTek’s storytelling-focused approach has earned underground acclaim, positioning him as a fresh forward-thinking voice in techno. With Modern Human, he challenges listeners to dance and reflect.
