Can you tell us about your journey into the techno music scene? What drew you to this genre?
There is a colorful path lies behind me. Since I started DJing at a very early age, I’ve of course always tried to find my main genre. Since I come from the Techhouse genre and also played deep house, a lot has changed over the last few years. My musical direction in the productions was Techhouse and Melodic Techno. Now I have found my place in my main genre, Peaktime Time Techno, and I feel extremely comfortable there!
Your new single is set to release on Reload Black. How did this collaboration come about?
A dream becomes true! The legendary label Reload Black Label by The Yellow Heads is one of my favorite techno labels. It was clear to me that if I had the quality and maturity of the production, that would be my first port of call! I am super happy to release my new amazing track ‚Lost In Love‘ under this legend label.
Could you share some insights into the creative process behind your upcoming single?
The single means a lot to me because it’s based on an absolute nineties’ techno banger by Legend B. The melody creates a ‚hands-up’ atmosphere and puts people into dreams. The process took a very long time because I was a very perfectionist and the single just had to be good.
What themes or emotions were you aiming to convey with this track?
I crafts a fresh & epic Techno production brimming with energy and euphoric ecstasy. The track’s straightforward structure, sweat-inducing arrangement, and powerful synth melodies make it a driving club monster and a new signature sound for me. In the break, I skillfully builds up the entire tension, creating an unparalleled ‘Hands Up’ atmosphere before plunging back into the main part at full throttle, delivering a spine-tingling experience. This authentic and highly danceable contribution to Techno culture magically fuses ’90s spirit with contemporary Techno, showcasing me unique musical vision.
Reload Black is known for its distinctive style. How does your new single align with the label’s vision?
I don’t think much needs to be said about the label’s distinctive style. I am very happy to be able to be part of the family now. The label was my first choice as I had the demo version and they liked it straight away.
How do you feel your sound has evolved since your earlier releases?
Most people know me as a Peaktime and Hard Techno DJ/producer. But that was not always like this. I had a phase where I released a lot of melodic, techno on my own label OXTACE RECORDS. Nevertheless, it was clear to me that the goal was to perfect my sound and play Peaktime Techno. A lot has happened in the last year.
Techno music often blurs the lines between the physical and the emotional. How do you balance these elements in your production?
It’s crazy when you think about how techno music came about and what elements of electronic devices it is made from. I still find many analog devices very interesting these days. In my productions I try to combine old sounds like acid with synths. A special drum kit for the driving sound is also a must. For me, a track always has to sound very robust and bassy.
What do you hope listeners take away from your new single?
These days it’s a battle to see who gets the most streams and music sales. For me, my top priority has always been to inspire ravers with my music and productions and to take them on a journey. Since ‘Lost In Love’ is inspired by a legendary nineties banger, of course I also want to bring back memories and create a beautiful emotions!
Can you tease any upcoming projects or collaborations that fans can look forward to?
Unfortunately, I can’t reveal that much yet as it’s all still being planned. But there are still big and interesting projects planned for this year. Independent of my own event in the Frankfurt nightclubs, I will also be releasing releases through my own label ‘OXTACE RECORDS’. Among other things, I will have a release under Alaula and Fierce Animals. You can find out more about this on my social media. Don’t forget to follow me here: justinhahn.music
