Following her inaugural release on Loco Dice’s Desolat imprint back in 2018, Belgian DJ and producer Mandana now steps up to make her debut on Archie Hamilton’s Moscow Records with a killer four-track EP complete with a fantastic remix from man of the moment, Chris Stussy,
Le Cockpit EP gives a nod to Moscow Records’ roots, complete with three delectably deep and minimal styled cuts. Each track brings its own individual vibe; Le Cockpit has more of a sunrise feel with floaty pads throughout, while La Vlaams and La Paridgina have some more staccato elements, giving the record more energy. Chris Stussy completes the package with his remix of Le Cockpit, giving it that dance floor twist that he has become known for.

Hi Mandana, a very warm welcome to Techno Mood. Great to have you with us for the first time!
Hi there, thank you so much for having me!
Please can you introduce yourselves to our Techno Mood readers?
Well, my first name is Mandana, just like my artist name, and I’m 29 years old. I’m currently taking my first steps in the big league out there, that is to say that my first proper EP has just been released on Moscow Records! I’ve been playing internationally for 3 years now.
Despite everything that’s going on in the world right now, how has 2020 been for you so far?
It hasn’t been easy for me but I was able to overcome difficulties and even take advantage of the situation: I was able to improve and perfect my music production skills. Been spending a lot of time in the studio.
Congratulations on your brand new ‘Le Cockpit’ EP coming up on Archie Hamilton’s Moscow Records. Exciting stuff! Can you talk to us about the record and what our readers can expect from the release?
People will definitely be able to understand who I am, as a person, through this EP; it really reflects me. I put a lot of heart into it, a lot of time certainly, and also a lot of love.
How did the introduction to the Moscow crew come about? Have you worked with them before?
This is ly first collaboration with them. I’ve often played records of theirs and really liked what they were doing. I was lucky to meet Archie during a gig in France where we were both performing … and here I am today releasing on his label! I’m very happy with this 🙂
With large parts of the world still suffering the effects of COVID-19, and with large-scale events cancelled across the board, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy during this period?
As I previously mentioned, I was able to devote myself to my production – much more than before. During the lockdown in Paris I also went back to my hometown in Belgium, to my friends and family. I had the opportunity to get closer to some people who are in the music business in Belgium and exchanged a lot with them. That’s quite enriching and positive in my opinion.
Presumably you have a lot more time to spend in the studio at the moment. What are your favourite pieces of studio equipment right now? (Please name at least three)
I only produce on my computer so my main software pieces are:
– Arturia’s VSTs
– U-he Bazille
– Some old-school samples for a more gritty sound
Top 5 favourite records you love to listen to at home right now?
Too many to list! Sorry guys : )
What’s next for Mandana in 2020?
I don’t know yet but I hope we can move forward soon for me to find out …
Any final words for our Techno Mood readers?
Thank you so much guys for taking the time to read this! My new EP “Le Cockpit” is now out, please let me know what you think and come visit my socials 😉 More importantly, please stay safe.
