How has your 2022 been so far?
The year 2022 has started great and Daisy Dans Records and I are excited about what this year still brings great with it. At the end of last year we got a grant from “Neustart Kultur & GVL” from the german goverment, for which we are very grateful and with which we want to take off.
The grant has been very supportive for me and Daisy Dans Records. I had the time to produce new tracks, and my team had time to deal intensively with marketing so that we can promote the tracks best possible with the grant money. I also had the time to perfect my Spotify profile, so check it out and follow me.
For my next release ”Jumping” we will also release a music video that was also funded by the grant.
Otherwise we hope that now everything normalizes again and that, that party life 2022 starts again.
The Pandemic obviously had an impact on everyone, not least those in music, how did you adapt and come through this?
In the difficult times of 2019 with ”Corona”, we wanted to bring joy and love back into people’s lives with music! So FROM HOME WITH LOVE was born to bring the party to people’s homes via live stream and give them a great time. Daisy Dans Records loves beats and bass and wants to make people happy with our music. That’s why we live streamed FHWL every Saturday from 7pm to 9pm to be close to our fans. The livestreams parties were great, there were always a lot of people having a great time together, just feeling free and having fun, that was the motto of FHWL.
Unfortunately Corona also brought financial difficulties, this situation left me no choice but to temporarily take on a second job to keep Daisy Dans Records going. The rest of the time I used to produce music and to educate myself musically.
Tell us about Daisy Dans Records outlook, what is your mission and how do you want to move forward?
We live for beats and bass and have made it our mission to make people happy with our music. The whole team is proud of their work and consists only of people who are fully behind the product and the message of the label. We convince not only with passion for techno, but also with professionalism. Daisy Dans embodies technology, experience and ambition with only one goal: to share their own enthusiasm for electronic music with the world.
Daisy Dans Records is a German techno label based in Freiburg im Breisgau and was founded in 2018 by me ”Manuel Bayer”. The company stands for passion and dedication to electronic music. The name of the label is composed of the English word “Daisy” and the Danish word “Dans” dance. Just like the popular flowers, the spirit of Daisy Dans blooms all year round.
In 2018, we took off with Daisy Dans Records and it went over the top with the release ”Summer Bells” at that time. Unfortunately, like everyone in the music industry, we were fully slowed down by Corona and their restrictions. But I used the time and spent a lot of time in the studio to produce tracks and to think about my label. That’s why I want to expand the label in the next few years. It’s important to me to give young, fresh artists the chance to release through my label.
Your latest release, a single, titled ‘Cool Dancer’ is out this month (April), tell us more about that.
The upcoming track ”Cool Dancer” will be released on April 8, 2022. The sound is meant to inspire people to go out again and experience something, just forget the last years full of restrictions and leave them behind – that’s the ”Cool Dancer”. He strives for change and wants to storm the dance floor again with his friends.
The lyrics in the track “Let’s dance with me” are a cry for change. This is joined by an incoming melody and a driving bassline. In addition, the track impresses with synthesizer sounds that invite you to dream. Let yourself be carried away by “Cool Dance” and make your soul dance.
How do you judge success, is it by sales, high profile support?
It depends on both. If our tracks are posted on social media such as Instagram on a high profile, that is of course really promoting and gives us insane support and attention. The sales also contribute to the success: The higher the sales figures and radio play, the more income for the label.
For me personally, success also means to always stay on, not to stand still even if you sometimes have to go ”2 steps back to make 5 forward again”!
I can not say it often enough, no matter what life situation, but you just have to stand fully behind what you do and for what you are, then successes are not long in coming and you will be rewarded for your persistence.
What are the main challenges behind running a music label?
It’s not always easy because I run the label and I’m a music producer at the same time. In the last few years, I have overcome many challenges. The whole bureaucratic effort alone, for example to get a label code, was enormous. Right after starting the label, I started looking for suitable people to accompany me on my way, which also proved to be a challenge. The move from Berlin back to my hometown Freiburg. Furthermore it was not easy to survive the last 2 years with Corona and the uncertain standstill of concerts and gigs.
But no matter how big the challenge, with a lot of love and dedication, no effort is too good for me to make my dream come true. Sometimes I would love to split up to realize everything I want, but unfortunately that’s not possible. Luckily, I work with an incredibly great team that actively and passionately supports me in making my vision come true with Daisy Dans Records and DaisyTech (our own style of techno music). So a big thank you to my team for always being there for me.
How do you evolve the sound of a label while staying true to the original sound and not jumping to the latest trend?
The most important thing is to stay true to yourself and stick to your goals and don’t lose sight of them, go on your own way and don’t let anyone distract you from it. It took me some time to develop my very own style of music, I call the style ”DaisyTech” a mixture of Techno and Tech House. I quickly realized that my music can not be pigeonholed and that’s why I founded my own label. The label stands for ”DaisyTech” and will remain fundamentally true to this style, but I will continue to push and expand our sound. Furthermore, the further development of the sound of Daisy Dans Records will also depend on the future new artists of the label. I am very excited about where my path will lead me.
Any future releases you can share with us, what is next?
In May 2022 my latest project ”Jumping” will be released. This track by me is pure joy of life. Behind the title “Jumping” is the desire for freedom and a better world. The bright seasons of spring and summer bring light back into a gloomy time. The warmth is reflected in my positive sound. The track is cheerful, invites you to dance and sends love into the world. The vocals “Jumping to the DaisyTech” are striking. My individuality is also reflected in this release. Friendly synthesizers and a powerful bassline make my sound something very special. Perfect for sunny hours and extensive parties.
