Hey Tim, a pleasure to have you with us today! How are things with you and where are you chatting to us from right now?
Hi, thank you for having me. I just arrived in San Francisco and enjoying a bit of California sun before our Scenarios showcase happens here in LA.
We’re pleased to be talking ahead of your upcoming release, ‘Disconnect’, alongside Maga, Sean Doron and Emanuel Satie. What can the readers expect from this collaboration?
„Disconnect“ is a very accessible track in my opinion, which spreads positive vibes and overall is very danceable. We had a lot of fun in the studio working on this one and are super excited to share it with you.
The track is arriving on Scenarios and marks the third release to come on the recently formed collective, record label, event series from yourself, Emanuel Satie, Maga, Sean Doron and Yulia Niko. We’d love to hear a bit more about what brought you guys together to form Scenarios?
Maga approached me last year with the idea of a collaborative label, that is more of a „collective“ than a traditional record label – I was really intrigued by the idea and jumped on it. We had a bunch of sessions in Lisbon that confirmed there’s something special here – I didn’t expect it to be so rewarding to write music with 5 people.
What was the collaboration process like on ‘Disconnect’?
Usually, with all of our tracks, one of us brings a template or an idea to the studio and we just work on it all together. The same happened here – when we started working on it in Lisbon, it had different drums and overall a more melancholic vibe, which we then changed to a more uplifting, positive feeling. Afterwards, we sent the project back and forth a couple of times, Emanuel did some great last minute changes and we all thought it was ready to be released.
The track features the vocal talents of Hannah Noelle. How did the link with Hannah first come about and what was it like working together?
I’ve known Hannah for a few years now and she’s a frequent collaborator, this particular vocal on Disconnect was actually taken from a voice memo that she sent me. I edited it and pitched it a bit, but that take was almost perfect. So in this case, we had the vocal way before the track was even finished and just built the track around it.
We’d love to hear what else is in store for Scenarios this year, is there anything you can let us in on?
We’re getting ready for our first showcase in LA, have a bunch of Burning Man appearances coming up too, more showcases being planned.. So we’re very much gearing up to get the event part of the label up and running, while new releases are on the way as well. We worked on a few tracks over the summer, that will be in stores soon 🙂
In addition to the formation of Scenarios, you’re having yet another strong year individually as an artist, with releases on the likes of Stil Vor Talent and Poker Flat so far. Is there anything else in the pipeline for you individually this year?
There’s a release coming in collaboration with Kolsch, that I can’t say too much about, but it’s going to be really interesting and a combination of both our styles.
Thanks for chatting with us today Tim! To round things off, where can our readers expect to catch you in the near future?
I’ll be in California for a while, then doing a tour that includes Medellin, Chile and Buenos Aires soon. Afterwards I’ll head to Burning Man, then it’s a couple of shows in New York and Miami. Lots of upcoming US gigs 🙂
