Brazilian producer, DJ and curator Pedro Gariani returns with “Saci”, a percussion-heavy new single landing today, September 25, via ¡Queer y Latina!. The track takes its name and inspiration from Saci, one of Brazil’s most recognisable folklore characters, a mischievous, elusive figure said to appear and disappear through whirlwinds, and translates that cultural reference into a hypnotic club record.
Running at 128 BPM, “Saci” is built around a dense percussive groove, with vocals, flute and sampled elements weaving through the production. Gariani keeps the arrangement focused on movement rather than excess, allowing the rhythm to carry the track while the Brazilian references give it a distinct sense of place.
There’s a growing space within contemporary house music for productions that bring regional rhythms, percussion and cultural identity into a dancefloor language capable of travelling internationally, and “Saci” sits comfortably within that conversation. Its sound connects with the melodic and percussive Latin/Afro house territory currently being explored across the global scene, while remaining rooted in Gariani’s own Brazilian background.
“I grew up hearing stories about this character and wanted to turn some of that energy into music,” Gariani explains. That idea comes through in the track’s restless character: playful, hypnotic and constantly in motion.
“Saci” also arrives as a significant release for ¡Queer y Latina!, the platform Gariani launched in 2026 to spotlight queer and Latin American perspectives within club music. Following the label’s debut release, “Su Beijo”, the single will also feature on its forthcoming first VA compilation.
With appearances at Time Warp Brasil, Tomorrowland Brasil, Pikes Ibiza and HÖR Berlin behind him, Gariani is increasingly connecting production, curation and cultural identity. “Saci” feels like a natural extension of that trajectory, a club record that carries a story with it.
