PARIS — Paris-based electronic duo Cut Face are set to unleash their high-contrast, uncompromising sound upon the global underground with the release of their new single “Upgrade” on 22nd April, followed by their debut 5-track EP, “You’ll Never Get The Same Moment Twice,” on 22nd May.
Consisting of established French producer Body Hook and classically trained British vocalist Tacita Grace, Cut Face is a project fueled by double espressos and late-night DIY obsession. Their sonic palette is a brutal yet atmospheric collision of garage, jungle, and darkwave—channeling the raw breakbeats of The Prodigy, the cold precision of New Order, and the visceral punk energy of IDLES.
The upcoming single “Upgrade” serves as a raw exploration of escapism. “‘Upgrade’ is a pure plunge into drugs and partying to forget, accepting numbness as the escape,” says Tacita Grace. “Restriction pushes me to hunt for more unique sounds,”Body Hook explains. “It’s a brutal yet atmospheric vision, still underpinned by music that really hits you in the body.”
The debut EP, “You’ll Never Get The Same Moment Twice,” marks the culmination of their journey through the “chaos of the mind.” While the title sounds optimistic, it carries a deep memento mori sentiment. The project has already garnered praise from techno and electronic legends including Laurent Garnier, Trevor Jackson, and Dave Clarke, with a remix currently in progress by jungle innovator Tim Reaper.
“Each single displays an intimate part of pain and healing through toxic relationships and self-destructive patterns,” Tacita Grace adds. “The whole is some kind of acceptance of life and what it is.”
