Miss Sheila was born in South Africa, then moved to New York by the age of 7, there she lived her childhood and as a teenager moved to Portugal where she soon discovered clubbing, dance music and DJs. Fascinated by the art of mixing records and music, she decided to learn and she quickly gets invited to spin at a local night club were she is heard by a “DJ agency” that immediately proposed management.

Miss Sheila has gained notoriety for her vibes, weaving from tech house and techno, her style, technique and rhythm have earned her the title of Portuguese “Techno Superstar”.

Miss Sheila released the track “Sheilas Temptation” co-produced with Joeski on Tango Records in 2001 that gave way to her future releases as a producer.
She has had guest spots on various fm radios but nowadays she manages her own Digital Waves radio show on one of Portugal’s Best Electronic Radio Station, Nova Era. She also manages her own label Digital Waves were she releases original tunes by national and international talent.

Miss Sheila has proved to be consistent, charismatic and a friendly DJ, she’s definitely taken female DJing into a whole new era and now looks forward to showing the world why she is widely considered one of Portugal’s best Electronic Artists and why she has been in the Portuguese Dance Scene since the very beginning.

She has a very distinctive sound, and her sets reflect the energy that she puts into her tracks. Very pumping, dark and sexy.

Hi Sheila, a very warm welcome to Techno Mood. Great to have you with us for the first time!
Hello. Thank you very much for having me!

Can you introduce yourselves to our Techno Mood readers?
My name is Sheila. Im a Dj and Producer based in Portugal, Im passionate about Electronic Music.
I have been making music and DJing for over 20 years now, I love what I do so I don’t consider it a job and I consider myself a very happy and positive person.

Despite everything that’s going on in the world right now, how has 2020 been for you so far?
The year started off pretty good with lots of gigs and studio work as usual. 2020 is the year that I celebrate “20 Years Of Music”and its sad and unfortunate all that we are going through, but I always try to keep a positive mind and I’m very thankful for having a very supportive fan base that give me all the strength I need.

How would you best describe your sound?
I go from a groovy Tech House to a pumping Techno, but always with a bad ass beat! (laughs)

You recently completed the 20 year career mark. Whats your secret to this long term success ?
Work your ass off… lol… Stay positive, keep the passion alive, remain humble and grateful.

Last December you celebrated the event “20 Years of Music” at Pacha (Ofir-Portugal). Can you talk to us a little bit about this?
Well, I picked Pacha Ofir as the venue because is one of my personal favorite Clubs, and I believe most of my fans as well. The line up was a big one, mostly artists that I consider friends, like Carlos Manaça, Fauvrelle, XL Garcia, Nuno Clam, Nunno, Eat Dust, Tiger Lewis and Mc Johnny Def, alongside my international friends Chus & Ceballos, Coyu, Rafa Barrios and some new ones like Pig&Dan, making this event an unforgettable 12 hour musical journey.

To mark this special anniversary you released a track called “20YOM” on your own label “Digital Waves”, can you please describe us the record and how it came about?
I decided to make a celebratory track to mark the date “20YOM” (20 Years Of Music) and for this I choose to make a prime time Techno banger and release it on my label (Digital Waves) that curiously turned 5 years old this year too.

Congratulations on the release of your latest track ‘I Am’ on Klaphouse Records. Can you talk to us about the record and the creative process behind it?
Thank you so much! For Klaphouse I was able to follow my deeper side, “ I Am” is a melodic tech house track with a beautiful male vocal that flows perfectly in calmer sets.

Do you have any other releases planned in the coming months? Can you give us a sneak peek?
Yes, I have one coming this month on Red Eclipse, its called “Faces” and its already available in pre-order at Beatport. And in September “Half Way” will be released on Earthemia Records.

With large parts of the world still suffering the effects of COVID-19, and with large-scale events cancelled across the board, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy during this period?
I´m taking advantage of the extra free time to finish some studio projects, run my label “Digital Waves” and my Radio Show. I also do some live streams to stay close to my supporters and keep them updated.

Any final words for our Techno Mood readers?
Yes, stay safe, healthy and positive, and we will see each other real soon on the dancefloor.

Thanks Sheila and all the best!
Thank you for the invite and support.
