There’s a certain duality at the core of NEGITIV’s world — a constant interplay between control and chaos, intensity and release, internal reflection and external energy. Her sound may hit hard and fast, but beneath it lies something more fluid: a continuous emotional exchange between artist and crowd, moment and memory.
With her ‘Me & My Demons’ Tour and a visually striking new YouTube set, NEGITIV leans further into that inner space, exploring the tension between instinct and intention. Rather than separating sound and feeling, she treats them as part of the same evolving journey, one that unfolds differently every night, shaped by the people in the room as much as the music itself.
Speaking to us earlier this month, she opened up about flow, connection and the inner world that drives her forward. Check it out!
Techno is often described as emotional before intellectual. What feeling do you chase when crafting a set?
I chase dynamics, surprise, and also the feeling from the last tour stop or the last gig. I hold on to the memory of those people and that community and I try to connect to exactly that point again, like continuing where we left off.
You’ve spoken about intensity and control — how do those two ideas live together in your music?
Intensity and control should always feel a little out of control.
The title of your new ‘Me & My Demons’ tour suggests an inner dialogue. How does music help you navigate that?
Totally. When I am in my head and traveling through my own world on the beats, on the kicks, on the sound, the dynamics of the music help me deal with all of that. It helps me handle those worlds in my head, my demons, my thoughts.
Your YouTube set feels very unique. Do you see your art as storytelling in both sound and visuals?
Yes, absolutely. For me the sound and the visuals belong together. Both are part of the same inner journey. Every set tells a story and the music and the images support each other.
What moment (a gig, a studio session, a conversation) has shaped you most as an artist?
Completely different situations, completely different vibes, completely different memories. Everything brought experience, everything moved me forward, everything shaped me, even if none of those moments really had much to do with each other. And I would not want to miss any of it.
When you’re on a stage with thousands of people, what’s the internal landscape you’re inhabiting?
The more people smile at me, scream at me, push me, the more I want to make them happy. It is a total mirror of energy. What you give me, I give back to you. Then we all dive into it together and it becomes a flow. That is a really beautiful experience.
How do you disconnect or reset after an intense performance?
I get on the couch, with my dog, with my boyfriend, with a joint, and I chill. I am an absolute chill mouse. And on Ibiza you can do that very well. Basically it is boyfriend, joint, dog, Ibiza, gigs and repeat.
Last but not least, do you have any projects coming up this year that you’d like to mention?
Yes. I want to travel to the USA this year. We still have a set with BCCO coming. I also have a single on Insomniac coming out in about a month. And there are so many shows ahead in cities where I have never played before. There is a lot still happening this year and I am very excited.
