Hey, The Rocketman! It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How has 2023 been for you so far?
Hey, thanks for having me! 2023 has been amazing so far. I made a lot of new music and I can’t wait to release it. My first track of 2023 was with Belocca and it went pretty well. The second one I released was ‘Love & Peace’ and has been supported now by Charlotte de Witte, Nicky Romero, Danny Avila, Maddix, Joyhauser and many more! Also, a lot of shows has been confirmed all around the world for 2023 so couldn’t have a better start.
Congrats on your latest single «Love & Peace» in collaboration with VE/RA! What was your inspiration behind this track?
We made the track in 5 hours. So it went pretty fast. We found the rap vocal and started working from there, I wanted to make something different than a usual techno track and had this idea with UK rap vocals on top. The vocal is really catchy so we don’t wanted to make a complex track around it, just keep it simple. The UK Rap vocal in combination of the acid line, hard kick, psy bass, and trance synths is pretty unique I think. We made an acid line for the drop and some trance synths on top for the second part. I think the whole idea and arrangement was there in 2 hours. The kick was made out of a few samples/layers and we made an psy bass on top to give the track some groove. t was so much fun to work on this track because when you’ve an idea and work it out so fast, it gives you a lot of energy. The support now is amazing! Charlotte has been playing it in ALL her sets the past 3 months and the crowd response is amazing as well. We made the track on a Wednesday night, I’ve sent it to Charlotte on Thursday and found out she played it at a show on Friday. So that went pretty fast as well. I received a message of Nicky Romero’s manager this Saturday if I could send him the track. Later that night he played it on the MainStage of EDC Mexico.
What was it like working together with VE/RA? Was it an instant success?
As I told you above, we made it pretty fast. So I think we can say it was an instant success. We’re working on the follow-up now…
Can you mention some musical influences that you believe have shaped your sound?
I can’t really define my own style, but it’s up to you how you should call it. It’s a mix between hard techno/acid techno / psy and big room but I don’t like to think in boxes so genres doesn’t matter to me.
What does your studio setup look like?
Working a lot on music on the road. I love to make new ideas on my Macbook speakers because you’ll just focus on the arrangement and not really on the mixdown and sounds. I’ve a studio at home with Genelecs, Moog Subsequent 37, Some other synthesizers, piano’s and some effect hardware.
Can you name some of the instruments or plugins that you believe define your sound?
I’m using a lot of Diva, Pigments, and Hive. Also, the Roland TB303 and Phoscycon is heavily used in my projects (you can probably hear the acid sound in ever track)
Where can people expect to see you performing live in the coming months?
I’m having my debut in Singapore, Australia, and Colombia in the coming months, and a lot of shows are confirmed in Holland. Can’t wait to play all my new music.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer our questions, is there anything else you would like to mention before we go?
Thank you so much for having me. I just can say – thanks everyone for supporting my music and hope to see you at one of my shows!
