Making waves on the progressive, melodic house and techno scene over the past few years with releases on the likes of Diynamic and Odd One Out, German producer TH;EN lands on Purified Records with his diverse 3-track Shine EP. We caught up with him on Techno Mood ahead of the release.
Hi TH;EN, welcome to Techno Mood, where are we speaking to you from today?
Hello Techno Mood, thank you for the invitation. I’m speaking today from my home studio in Germany.
For those that do not know you, can you introduce yourself?
Sure, my name is Enzo (TH;EN) and I’m a music producer and DJ from Mainz/Germany. I’ve been making music for 25 years and have released tracks on various labels in the Melodic Techno and Progressive House genres.
How did you get into music production?
My youth was in the 90s, where everything was very trancy and the beginning of techno. I started buying records relatively young at the age of 16 and later started playing them at parties. Since then, it was clear to me that I wanted to experiment with my own music. I was attracted to the creative possibilities of electronic music and found it perfect for expressing my musical ideas.
How did you select the name TH;EN?
The project name TH;EN is quite easy to explain. We used to be a duo. TH are the initials of my former partner Thorsten and EN are my initials. I’ve been doing the project alone for several years now.
Congratulations on your new EP ’Shine’ on Purified Records! Can you tell us a little about the 3 different tracks and how you came to release on Purified?
Thank you, I’m really excited about the EP. The three tracks on the EP – ‘Shine’, ‘Get Down’, and ‘Berlin’ – are all different in terms of their mood and energy, but they all share a common interface of melodic techno with a deep and emotional feeling. Purified Records is a label that I have long admired, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to release on Nora En Pure’s imprint.
The title track Shine has been played all over the world ahead of its release. How does that feel for you?
It’s an incredible feeling to know that my music resonates with people all over the world. Seeing videos of DJs I’ve always admired playing my tracks in clubs and festivals around the world is always a surreal experience.
What are some of the best moments of your career thus far?
All experiences are unique, special, and magical to me.
What are your hopes & goals for 2023?
My hopes and goals for 2023 are to continue developing my sound and releasing more music. I’ve always had a connection with Ibiza throughout my life, so it would be a big dream to play there. That spirit is unique to me.
What clubs or festivals are you most keen to play over the next year or two?

Every event is the best stage for me.
What is your favourite track to get the set started?

Best closing track?
The best closing track for me is something that leaves a lasting impression and gives people a sense of closure. I usually close with a melodic and emotional track that reflects the journey of the set. as an example….. Innerbloom from Rüfüs Du Sol.
