French DJ-Producer Albanø is the latest artist to step up with a full new EP on the legendary Family Piknik label. It comes after he has remixed here a number of times and has appeared on various comps. He comes through with three terrific tunes.
Odace is a slow burning opener with deep drums that get you in the zone. They dangle in the air while tense but thoughtful pads build in layers and get your full attention. Winter then gets more majestic and haunting, with pixelated melodic motifs twinkling about the mix as the rooted drums roll on. It is Canuli that then closes out the EP with a broad, sweeping groove and open air vibe permeated by lush late night keys.
These tracks all show this producer has a real sense of his own musical identity.
