REVIEW: KIKE PRAVDA – OUT OF BODY (EP)

600

Kike Pravda has worked alongside some of contemporary techno’s most cutting edge figures, and has a wealth of techno puritan influences from Detroit and 90s Berlin. This knowledge and experience allows him to craft supremely effective tracks, with a focus towards functionality and sensory engagement.

First track ‘Astral’ is a stripped workout wrought with tension – a deeply sci-fi influenced soundscape melts into leering percussion with dense low end keeping things moving. ‘Dynamical’ is the record’s heaviest mind trip, with Pravda experimenting in modulation while a heavily layered kick makes it the obvious peak-time choice here.

‘Cyclone’ leans slightly closer to the industrial in the low-end, while utilising a foundation of solid percussion to create yet another trippy dancefloor bomb. True to the EP’s title, Pravda’s production embodies the style of techno that is at once dissociative and kinetic – essential for the headier DJ.
