Hi Samuele! Great to have you with us today. How is it going?
Hi guys, thank you for having me here! Everything is going well, I’m in the studio and I’ve just finished digging some tracks for tomorrow’s gig 🙂
Where are you based at the moment? How have things been there for you given the pandemic?
At this moment I’m in Siena (Italy), my hometown. Here the pandemic was really hard, but to be honest it gave me a lot of time to spend in the studio where I’ve written tons of new tracks and I was able to work on my first album, I hope to publish it this year.
We’re super pleased to be chatting with you today around the release of your Hot Creations debut; ‘My Father In Ibiza 1988’, two huge tracks! First of all, can you tell us a bit about the title of the record?
For me Hot Creations is a dream that came true, when Jamie Jones told me that wanted to sign that track I literally touched the sky with a finger!
When I was writing the tracks, I took inspiration from some vinyls bought in Ibiza by my father more than 30 years ago, it was a duty to dedicate the EP’s name to him!
Hot Creations makes a perfect home for the release. Can you tell us a bit about how it landed on the label?
It’s been a while since Jamie Jones supported and appreciated my music. As soon as I finished those two tracks I told myself “Ok, these are the ones”. I sent them to Jamie and some days after he was playing them at Space in Miami! Shortly after his confirmation email, I cried with joy!!
Over your career so far you’ve released on some other great labels too, including Snatch! Records, Roush Label, Voltaire Music and more, along with gaining the support of key players such as Green Velvet, Jamie Jones, Marco Carola and more. We’d love to hear a bit about how you first got into music. Where did it all begin for you and what has your journey into the scene been like so far?
For me it was easy to get near the electronic music world, my family is full of musicians and my father was a DJ. When I was 10/12, he had fun teaching me the mixing techniques with vinyls (I wasn’t so good at the time LOL). Who have been your biggest music inspirations? Was there a particular record that made you want to follow this path
There are a lot of musicians from which I take inspiration, but if I had to choose one it would be Jamie Jones, that’s why it’s so important for me to release on Hot Creations.
A track that made me follow my path? I’d say Royksopp – What Else Is There (Trentemoller Remix)
Great to chat with you today Samuele! Congrats to you on the Hot Creations release and we wish you all the best going forward. To round things off, is there anything else lined up from yourself that you can let us know about yet?
I recently signed 3 EPs on 3 big labels. It’s still too early to talk about them:) Thank you for the interview, it was a pleasure to me!
