Australian-Iranian producer/DJ/fantasy author Naz drops her third multimedia-linked release on her New Eden Records, ‘Night Rider’ feat. 88 Birds, out February 14th.
Her unique creative approach is fuelled by fantasy fiction and gaming; ‘Music has always created fantasy worlds in my head. So with every New Eden Records release, we [Naz & her co-author John Carnes] write a full chapter of the story it tells, a music video clip illustrates each chapter as the book grows… so the developing storyline is fully immersive.’
Naz’ swift success is real enough – in under a year, this still-emerging artist was playing Drumsheds, Brooklyn Mirage, The Gorge, Piknic Electronik, Creamfields… supporting Tale Of Us and playing her debut sell-out headliner in Sydney Australia, along with releasing on Anjunabeats, Enhanced, and starting her own label.
‘Night Rider’ feat. 88 Birds: a steady driving house beat with throbbing bass and hissing hi-hats disrupted by sudden jangling piano phrases showcases 88 Birds’ soaring, sweet but edgy vocals – ‘I need everything set free’ – her voice also riding the breakdown’s solemn synth chords, building to a satisfying drop. Danceable, and readable, as only Naz can make it.
Naz:‘Night Rider’ was a labour of love and frustration and is now one of my favourite tracks. When I sent the instrumental to 88 Birds, she delivered such a beautiful vocal I felt there was something missing in the music. I wanted her powerful vocals and lyrics to shine and have the space they deserved. It took over a year but then one day I revisited it after a break, the magic clicked and here we are!’ Here in Naz’ fantasy world, and it’s well worth the trip.
