Hey Andre, great to have you with us today! How are you and whereabouts are you based right now?
Hey hello there!! All great actually, I am feeling really inspired!!
How has the music scene been doing there recently?
Well actually my town/city Guayaquil is small so there are only a few parties per month and they are cool, but in other other cities likeQuito, we get more quality!!
It’s an exciting time for you with your ‘Pegao’ EP forthcoming on Hot Creations this December alongside Teddy Wong. What’s the story behind this EP and how did it come to find its home on the label?
We always make music together, so this time Teddy sent me the idea and I started playing around and all the magic happened. I then sent the music to Jorge Andrade and he added his touch and boom!! PEAGAO Aside!! The second song called THE WONX was inspired from a movie, and the third song was a collaboration between Andi, Michael Joseph and Le Roi Carmonav – we all add our individual magic as always!! 😉
How did you and Teddy Wong first cross paths and what inspired you to get together for this EP?
Back in the day, he sent me some demos and we have mutual friends. His stuff is dope, so we became friends immediately, and as I mentioned before, he had some ideas and sent them to me and I loved them… 😉
You now have over 15 years of experience creating music and a huge back catalogue of releases to your name. We’d love to hear the story of how you first got into electronic music and producing? What was it that inspired you to follow this path?
I have played guitar all my life, I love punk rock music like Chaos UK, Exploited, NOFX, and more, also hip hop music and weird music too. Metal music for me has always been a passion and all the radical stuff from the 90s!! When I was 14 I went to a rave party and it was insane!! I was underage so I was often in underground parties that I wasn’t allowed to attend! I also love techno, ambient, burial music, radical music, and more experimental stuff… I actually have like 18 years doing this… so it’s been a loooong path for me!! 🙂
With your years of experience, we’d love to hear what your best piece of advice would be for aspiring artists?
Never give up and be yourself!!
Thanks a lot for chatting today Andre and congrats again on the forthcoming Pegao EP! To round things off, is there anything else upcoming from yourself and where’s the best place to keep up to date with you?
Go follow my new label with the legendary Inner City (Kevin Saunderson & Dantiez), send music and keep in touch!! Xx
