ALEXANDER GENTIL

BROOKLYN, NY – Colombian born and New York based techno artist Alexander Gentil announces the release of his new creative moniker and debut album Raw Planet on independent label imprint Errant Recordings. The longplayer will be available through a limited vinyl release on Echo Base and worldwide across digital platforms on Friday, 25 October.

Gentil conceptualized Raw Planet as a deeper exploration into the human experience, proposing that our thoughts are wired into existence. “In this immersive journey, the idea is that we can use our thoughts to generate movement and sound, blurring the lines between mind and matter, and consciousness and creation,” he says.

Raw Planet opens with the cerebral and trippy “Excuse Me.” Inspired by afterparty revelry, Gentil layers a friend’s spoken word and NYC subway noises over an arpeggiated synth, creating a unique mix of spontaneous conversation and urban soundscapes. On “Future of Us” Gentil lifts the mood upwards with a gorgeous piano riff that dances around a downtempo beat and atmospheric effects.

“Born Again” sees Gentil team up with Latin Grammy-winning vocalist, violinist, and composer Mireya Ramos. The duo wrote the violin parts and vocals together in a single night, and the beat came naturally around them. “This song is about the dualism we experience as humans and letting that light inside of you shine as it transcends all worlds and dimensions,” Ramos shares. “The vibe and the flow transports you to a space that is free with no judgments and endless possibilities.”

“Grain of Sand” features vocals previously recorded by Alexandra Klausner and later revisited for this album. With the help of Maria Shostakovich, a relative of famed composer and pianist Dmitri Shostakovich, Gentil reworked the beat and added new bass and chords, letting the vocals truly shine. “This song is about the art of letting go,” explains Klausner. “We spend so much time in our heads worrying about things when sometimes the best thing to do is to surrender to the experience, breathe, and allow for beauty to reveal itself.”

Stripping back the groove and resetting the album’s trajectory is the introspective and moody “Triumph Interlude.” Originating from a jam session with R&B / pop producer Carlisio Keys on a Steinway grand piano, the track is a nod to the spontaneous collaborations and contemplative creativity that find their spark in Gotham’s music studios.

On “Raven” Gentil leaves the quiet moments behind and steps confidently back into the party, channeling retro San Francisco vibes with a distinct Brooklyn point of view. With “Bodies” he taps into soft synths and 80s samples to create a powerful breakbeat dance floor jam. Amunet Speaks, a veteran producer/DJ of Central Florida’s club and rave scenes, provides the track’s lyrics and vocals. “We definitely vibed and his music inspired me,” she said. “I went home and danced like a madwoman, and wrote the vocals from my soul.”

Closing the album is “And Then,” a deep, late-night cut featuring a haunting blend of reverse guitars and textured vocal samples inviting the audience to tune in, space out, and dream of what’s to come.

Gentil plans to take Raw Planet on the road with a live audio visual show in 2025. “Raw Planet is not just a performance—it’s an exploration of the connection between humanity and technology, tradition and innovation, earth and the digital cosmos,” he says. “It’s a celebration of the chaotic beauty of life, expressed through a sensory overload of music, visuals, and movement, inviting the audience to lose themselves in a world that feels both familiar and alien at the same time.”

New Yorkers will be treated to a special listening party for Raw Planet at the intimate East Village venue Nublu 151 in Manhattan on Sunday, October 27th.
